Un portrait du photographe Dorrie McVeigh

Dorrie McVeigh is a British photographer based in Marseille, France.

Dorrie studied Comparative Religion at the University of Newcastle, specialising in Hinduism. Following her degree she  went on to study photography at the London College of Printing in London, followed by Central Saint Martins.

Mcveigh uses Photography as a "source language" instictively following her ideas and visual imagination to delve into her subconcious. Her images reveal recurring themes of memory, belonging and solitude; using photography as a way of holding on to fleeting moments while acknowledging their inevitable passage. Her photographs are often described as visual narratives. Influenced by literature and poetry as much as by art and photography, McVeigh’s series unfold with the rhythm of stories—threads of memory, fragility, resilience, and transience woven into images. Her practice has been shaped by a lifetime of movement between cultures. Born in New York and raised in London, travel and the search for personal identity are at the heart of her work.

McVeigh’s photographs have been exhibited in both solo and mixed shows internationally, from Sri Lanka to France, the UK, and beyond.
